Hôtel d'Angleterre: full renovation and 3-star classification

After an extensive renovation, Hôtel d'Angleterre opens a new chapter. Twenty fully redesigned rooms, more capacity, and a third star awarded in May 2026. A few minutes' walk from the Château de Versailles, the house is still the same. It is simply more comfortable, brighter, truer to itself.

A house rethought, room by room

The work was completed in October 2025. Every room was involved: layout, bathrooms, paintwork, furniture, decoration. Nothing was left aside.

The aim was never to turn Hôtel d'Angleterre into something else. It was to give it back what already belonged to it. The quiet of the Saint-Louis quarter. Morning light on the façades. That feeling of arriving somewhere, rather than simply dropping off a suitcase.

We reworked the volumes to gain a sense of space. The bathrooms were entirely rebuilt. Materials were chosen to last, not to photograph well. The result is felt more than described: you sleep better, you wake up better.

From 17 to 20 rooms

The renovation also created three new rooms, taking the hotel from 17 to 20.

Three rooms change a great deal in practice. A group travelling together can now stay under one roof. A family finds space more easily in high season. And for business stays or teams meeting at Hôtel du Jeu de Paume, a few streets away, the wider Cocobiches capacity grows accordingly.

The third star, awarded in May 2026

In May 2026, Hôtel d'Angleterre was awarded its 3-star classification.

French hotel classification is not decorative. It rests on a precise framework: room sizes, equipment, bedding quality, reception hours, guest information, cleanliness, acoustic comfort. Around a hundred criteria, each checked individually.

For a guest booking from abroad, it is a useful marker. You know what to expect before you arrive. For us, it recognises work that began long before the builders did, and continues every day, room after room.

Five minutes from the Château, in the real Versailles

Hôtel d'Angleterre sits in the Saint-Louis quarter, a few minutes' walk from the Château de Versailles.

It is a neighbourhood of narrow streets, markets, food shops and cobbled courtyards. You meet more residents than tour groups here. The Château is right there, but you do not live inside it. That is exactly what we like: the monument within walking distance, and a real town all around it.

The Grandes Eaux, the Marché Notre-Dame, the Salle du Jeu de Paume, the Estate of Marie-Antoinette: all within walking distance, or very nearly.

Three houses, one family

Hôtel d'Angleterre is part of Cocobiches, an independent family-run hotel group in Versailles, alongside Hôtel du Jeu de Paume and Les Apparts de l'Oncle Louis. Three addresses, three characters, 48 rooms in total, and the same way of welcoming people.
